Madness & Mayhem Down South: The Texas Chain Saw Massacre

I recently had the pleasure of contributing an essay to Second Sight Films upcoming Limited Edition 4K UHD & Blu-ray release of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. It’s part of a 190-page hardback book that comes with the release featuring many talented contributors. The release is loaded with extras and promises to be one of the best available editions of the film. You can read more about it and purchase a copy on the Second Sight Films website.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (aka Chainsaw) is one of my favorite American horror films and arguably one of the greatest American films ever made, so participating in this incredible project was a real thrill. My essay was subtitled “A Basket of Deplorables: America’s Monstrous Others.” I went in a bit hard this time and enjoyed kicking against the pricks. It’s critical of the entire American political establishment and offers a working-class perspective on history, cannibalism, and classism at play in Tobe Hooper’s masterpiece.

The amazing Kat Ellinger from Diabolique Magazine was part of the production and editing team so you know it’s a release worth picking up. This is a limited release, and copies are going fast, so please consider preordering now while they’re still available.
