I was saddened to learn that one of my favorite actresses had died recently following a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Vitti greets me every day when I enter my office as Modesty Blaise depicted on a poster that hangs near my desk. I’ve written about the actress and her work before so I’ll link to those articles here. She will be remembered as Antonioni’s muse and one of the great beauties of European cinema during the 1960s but she was also an incredible actress who could say so much with her expressive eyes and body language. A true film artist in every sense of the word.
