Celebrating Asian Film Artists

May is Asian Heritage Month or to be more exact, Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. To celebrate I decided to collect links to some of the Asian films, filmmakers and actors that I’ve written about. I’m particularly fond of Japanese cinema so my writing reflects this but I’ve also written about Hong Kong and Bollywood films as well. This is a master list of links to some of the more interesting articles I’ve written organized by region but a blog search will bring up more.

As you may have noticed, there has been a sharp rise in anti-Asian hate crimes over the past year in the U.S. and Asian communities here in the Bay Area where I’m located have been hit particularly hard. I stand with my Asian-American friends and neighbors against racism, bigotry, xenophobia, and hate in all its forms. If you enjoy what you read here this month please consider donating to Asian Americans Advancing Justice and Asian Law Caucus. This California based institution was founded in 1972 and is the nation’s first legal and civil rights organization serving low-income Asian Pacific American communities. They now have affiliates across the country and your donations go towards helping victims of hate crimes, advancing civil rights and educating the public at large.

You can also support me (Kimberly Lindbergs) and what I do here at Cinebeats by becoming a monthly subscriber at Ko-fi for just $3 a month. Ko-fi, much like Patreon, allows you to support writers & artists if you appreciate their content. Every cent I get goes towards generating new updates, maintaining the blog and keeping it online for everyone to enjoy. One time donations are also much needed right now and very welcome.

Now on with the show!
