I’ve been a movie lover for as long as I can remember. My father loved movies and he passed his deep affection for them on to me. When I was just a kid my dad and I spent many weekends together watching movies on our old black and white television and and while he was alive he would take my mom and myself to the local drive-in to see a double feature every Saturday night.
Growing up on a steady diet of horror films, spaghetti westerns, James Bond movies, American musicals and Japanese monster flicks gave me the ability to appreciate movies that were often marginalized by other film fans and overlooked by many critics. As I got older my interest in cinema expanded into areas like Italian Neorealism and the French, British & Japanese New Wave. I’ve always had a particular fondness for films made during the ’60s and ’70s so my home is filled with books, soundtrack recordings and film posters from those wonderful movie-making eras.
I wrote my first film review for my high-school newspaper and when I started attending college in the late ’80s I concentrated on film studies. For the last 6 years I’ve been writing about film regularly at Cinebeats.com and I currently write for Turner Classic Movies and TCM’s Classic Movie Blog, the Movie Morlocks. I also contribute to sites like Fandor when time allows. Some of my other movie related accomplishments include contributing liner notes to the CD release of John Barry’s soundtrack for the Joseph Losey film Boom! (1968) and providing an overview of Lee Marvin’s performance in Point Blank (1967) to the 2008 Woodstock Film Festival guide. I’ve also contributed to the cult film magazine, Paracinema.
In 2009 Cinebeats was nominated for a Rondo Award and in 2010 Film Comment called Cinebeats one of “The Top Film Criticism Sites” online. In 2011 the British film magazine, Total Film nominated Cinebeats for their “Best Film Fan Blog Award.” This year I was asked to join the Alliance of Women Film Journalists and I happily accepted their generous offer.
I created Cinebeats because I like writing about the movies I watch and I enjoy sharing my passion for cinema with others. Thanks for visiting and I hope you will enjoy my random ramblings about the movies I love and the people who make them.
Please feel free to contact me about work proposals or job offers at anytime. I’m always interested in new freelance projects.

Stumbled across your blog–wonderful discovery!
I’m a big Claude Lelouch fan–have you seen his film from late 60′s–possibly early 70′s–entitled “The Crook?” (don’t remember the original French title). Would like to find that one if I can.
Posted by Timoteo | June 16, 2009, 3:28 pmThank you Timoteo! Indeed I have seen The Crook (I am a big fan of the film’s star Jean-Louis Trintignant) but I’m ashamed to say that I’ve only seen one other Claude Lelouch film (Les misérables w/Belmondo). I believe The Crook is available on DVD if you check Amazon.com
If you have suggestions for other Claude Lelouch films I should see, please feel free to recommend them!

Dear Mrs. Lindbergs,
I found Your blog/page while hunting down pictures of last Year at marienbad at the web.
Your fashion-magazine discovery re the film’s style influence (hence it was discussed rather controversical at it’s release)is indeed some nice foot-note on it.
And, with all due respects from Europe: You yourself do look a bit late Fifties/Early Sixties-Girl Yourself!
Love and all the Best
